January is usually the month of new year resolutions and goal making time! I know for me, month of January was pretty exciting. I’ve made quite a list to of stuff I wanted to do this year.
Now February is almost over. How far have I gotten with my goals? Well I’ve done pretty well on quite a few. Others, eh. I have a 1-on-1 meeting with my manager every other week. I was told to set work goals for the year. I only made 4. They were very specific but also entailed a lot of work. There are TONS of things I could probably improve on but these were the 4 things I wanted to focus on. He told me he created a laundry list of things and was told to trim it down.
Is that where we fail? We make such a long list for ourselves that when we don’t get them all done, we just abandon the whole thing. My thing this year was to focus on myself. Avoiding over committing. Making myself a healthy and better person.
Next month, I hit a year mark at going to the gym. Not just once a month. Several times a month! I can’t even tell you how excited I am. I’m so proud for sticking to my guns. Going to the gym even though I didn’t always have a partner to go with. Seeing my legs slimming down a few days ago just had me ecstatic! My eating needs to get better but I’m glad I can get into a better groove about workouts. I’ve also been great about eating during the work week. Eating small meals during the day vs breakfast/lunch/dinner. I’m trying to incorporate that better on the weekends.
Back to my goals list, I’ve had to alter my personal goals for the year. Like work, I need to focus on a few. If I hit those marks, I can move onto the next ones. Fitness and getting back into reading are pretty high on my list among other things.
February, that’s for being patient with me and also being a great eye-opener. Hopefully I can end this month with a bang ;)
